...Out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

Psalms 40:2 NLT

The Black LotUS Project

is dedicated to serving underserved children, families, along with individuals impacted by mass incarceration, by leveraging the transformative power of arts, education, athletics, and the love of Jesus to empower and uplift communities.

The Mission

Rooted in the belief that serving and developing others cultivates a thriving "US", our mission is to extend love to the forgotten corners of our society, uplifting undeserved communities through the impactful intersection of arts, athletics, and the boundless love of Christ.

We strive to be a beacon of hope and catalyst for positive change by filling gaps in education, resources, and opportunities to underserved populations. Through intentional engagement, our focus is on guiding individuals towards positive pathways, ensuring that no one is left behind. Empowered by the transformative love of Christ, we aim to cultivate a community where every individual is empowered to blossom like the rare and resilient black lotus, thriving amidst adversity to fulfill their God-given potential.

The How

Engaging in art provides children with a holistic learning experience that goes beyond the development of artistic skills. Through varied community partnerships The Black LotUS Project's programing nurtures cognitive, emotional, and social well-being, in order to foster a more well-rounded and resilient individual -- particularly to those that would not have access to creative exposure otherwise.

Similarly, art therapy in underserved communities goes beyond traditional therapeutic approaches by addressing cultural, social, and economic factors. It provides a holistic and inclusive means of promoting mental health, empowerment, and community well-being. Through its use, The Black LotUS  provides opportunities to those impacted by incarceration.
